Happy New Year! Lets bring it in by closing out my 30 Songs of 2011!
10. That Power- Childish Gambino, Camp
Danny Glover’s hip hop alter-ego, Childish Gambino, was this year’s 2nd biggest surprise. Not only is Glover one of the funniest writers/actors on TV (Community), the man has some crazy skills on the mic. Camp is a surprisingly personal album, with “That Power” closing it out with a bang. The narrative at the end of the song is icing on a very delicious cake.

20. Civilian- Wye Oak, Civilian
“Civilian” is probably the most heartbreaking song on this list. This song is about allowing insecurities take over and ruin relationships, be it with friends or lovers. Singer Jenn Wasner’s voice only adds to the heartbreak.
